The British Monarchy and basically every high profile celebrity likes to tease the public with photos of their offspring; it's their way of keeping the lowly non-celebs in check in case they ever decide to declare a civil war against the British Upper Class and their Land Rovers.

The latest baby to be subject to this gimmick is none other than Princess Charlotte, the child of Kate Middleton and Prince William that not many people care about as much as Prince George, her older brother and the kid directly in line for the crown. Still, that doesn't stop royal obsessives or whatever pet name they have ascribed to themselves from obsessing over the youngest member of the Royal family.

Everyone's favorite Princess, besides Diana, Kate Middleton decided to put her photography skills to the test and snap some pictures of the young Princess, who is now clearly able to sit up by herself. View image on Twitter

    • Princess Charlotte's portraits join a long line of fun royal family snaps

      06 JUNE 2015

When Princess Charlotte made her first appearance outside the Lindo Wing on the day of her birth, 2 May, the world fell instantly in love and now the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have offered another glimpse at their bundle of joy, in the arms of her big brother Prince George.

Princess Charlotte's first portraits, released by Kensington Palace on 6 June, are the latest addition to the royal family’s photo album, one rooted in history and tradition but that each royal generation has also made their own.

After sharing one photograph on Twitter, Kensington Palace revealed three more official snapshots of 22-month-old George and one-month-old Charlotte.

Once again, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge opted to document the special milestone by keeping it all in the family.

Like George did in his first pictures, taken by 65-year-old grandfather Michael Middleton, in August of 2013 when the sweet boy was less than a month old, little Charlotte modelled for a familiar face - her proud mother, 33-year-old Kate.

The Duchess is an avid photographer who showcased her talent in 2012 with the release of personal photographs from the couple's royal tour of Southeast Asia.

Snapping her childrens' first portrait was surely a milestone moment for the mother of two, who has long strived to maintain as normal a life as possible for her family.

While Princess Charlotte's debut sees her indoors perched with her brother on a white sofa, Prince George’s first snaps were taken in the garden of the Middleton’s home in Bucklebury.

Michael captured his first grandson (born July 22, 2013) sleeping in the arms of his mother with Prince William, 32, the family’s cocker spaniel Lupo and Carole and Michael's golden retriever, Tilly, lounging close by. The photos paint a picture of a laid-back family basking in the early days of new parenthood.

The new portraits of Charlotte, whose full name is HRH Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge, highlight the role of the royal youngsters as the Duke and Duchess's most cherished treasures and the special bond shared between brother and sister.

If the photos are any indication, Prince George is already smitten with his new playmate!

In 1981, Prince William made his debut at only 29-days old in the protective arms of his mother, Princess Diana, with Prince Charles by her side.

Like George and Charlotte, Prince William was photographed by a family member – Princess Margaret's then-husband Lord Snowden.

Photos of Prince William at six months show a bright-eyed baby boy with two little teeth snuggling on the couch with his dad as mom Diana looks on lovingly. Perhaps Charlotte and George's sofa shots pay homage to this particularly happy time in the Duke of Cambridge's life.

William’s next historical portrait appearance came in 1984, following the birth of his little brother, Prince Harry. In the posed portrait, shot in a nondescript location, William can be seen giggling while his future best man sleeps in Princess Diana's arms.

The royal family has a history of mixing up the setting for portraits of babies born into the monarchy. In the public's first peek at Princes Charles in 1948, the future king is seen sleeping peacefully in his bassinet with his mother, then-Princess Elizabeth, lovingly watching over him.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge continue to carve out their own distinct path in royal history books, never turning their backs on generations past but also making their own new traditions like including only their children in this early set of portraits.

This goes for Charlotte's christening as well, which will take place on 5 July in Sandringham, near the couple's country home, Anmer Hall. In a tribute to their daughter's late grandmother, the happy occasion will take place at St Mary Magdalene Church where Princess Diana was christened.

London (AFP) - The first photos of Britain's Princess Charlotte together with Prince George, who is pictured giving his baby sister a kiss, were released by Kensington Palace on Saturday.

The four photographs, taken by their mother Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, show 21-month-old George sitting on a sofa holding Charlotte.

The portraits were taken when Charlotte, born on May 2, was around two weeks old.

They were taken at Anmer Hall, Prince William and his wife Kate's country mansion on his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II's private Sandringham estate in Norfolk, eastern England.

Propped up by two white cushions, Charlotte appears to be wearing a white romper suit with a matching jumper.

Her brother is dressed in a white shirt with blue piping detail around the collar, cuffs and front, and matching blue socks and shorts.

One picture shows George planting a kiss on his sister's forehead, another shows him tenderly looking down at her, a third shows him looking up and a fourth shows him smiling.

"Prince George and Princess Charlotte together at home #WelcomeToTheFamily," Kensington Palace, William and Kate's official residence in London, said as they released the image on social media.

"We're delighted to share the first photo of Prince George with his little sister Princess Charlotte.

"The photo of Prince George and Princess Charlotte was taken by The Duchess of Cambridge in mid-May."

Pictures of George have been rare. Only a handful of sets have been released, while he has rarely been seen in public.

The first pictures released of George at home after his birth were taken by Kate's father Michael Middleton.

George, who is directly in line to inherit the throne after his grandfather Prince Charles and then William, was last seen when his father took him to hospital to see his newborn sister.

Earlier, Kensington Palace released pictures of the multitudes of gifts, cards and toys the family received after Charlotte's birth, sent from all around the world.

They showed bundles of mail stacked up on filing cabinets, knitted dolls, slippers and bonnets and hand-written cards from schoolchildren.

"Thank you to everyone who took the time to make handmade gifts," the palace said.

It was announced Friday that Charlotte will be christened on July 5 at St Mary Magdalene Church, Sandringham, where William's late mother Diana was baptised.

Charlotte will be christened as a member of the Church of England by Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, spiritual leader of the Anglican Church.

William and Kate have been staying at Anmer Hall in Sandringham since Charlotte's birth at St Mary's Hospital in London.

In tribute to his grandmother and mother, William and Kate gave Charlotte the middle names Elizabeth and Diana.

The princess is fourth in line to the throne after her brother Prince George, who was born on July 22, 2013. He was baptised at St James's Palace in London.
