Kim Kardashian, Kanye West Wedding Bands Were Designed by Lorraine Schwartz: Details

Bound 4 life! Kim Kardashian and Kanye West exchanged custom-designed wedding bands by Lorraine Schwartz during their May 24 ceremony. The newlywed couple, who married at the Forte di Belvedere in Florence, Italy, called upon the celeb-beloved jewelry designer and their close pal to create the symbols of eternal love.

For her trek down the aisle, Kardashian accessorized her Givenchy Haute Couture bridal gown (and later, her second dress of the evening!) with diamond studs and her engagement bling by Schwartz. At the altar, West placed a diamond band on his new wife's left ring finger.

The piece itself should perfectly complement Kardashian's large engagement ring from West. As previously reported, the Yeezus rapper was hands-on throughout the selection process of Kardashian's sparkler ahead of his October 2013 proposal in San Francisco.

At the time, the designer's rep told Us that West "wanted a perfect stone" for his future bride. "He wanted it to look like the diamond was floating on Kim's finger!" the rep said. "Lorraine was happy that Kanye asked her to create the ring with him. Kim and Lorraine are dear friends. Kanye was very involved with the design and the whole process."

The jeweler's work with the couple and the Kardashian family has been extensive in recent months. Schwartz accessorized Khloe for the couple's pre-wedding brunch at the Valentino castle last week. She also provided bling for Kim at the 2014 Met Gala in NYC.

For West in his first-ever marriage, Schwartz created a gold band. The rapper -- excited to marry his "muse" in the months leading up to their nuptials -- largely planned his wedding alongside celebrity event planner Sharon Sacks.

"[The ceremony] was beautiful," one observer told Us. "Absolutely magnificent."

Lucky Kanye West will get to hold onto Kim Kardashian's hand forever after this weekend. The "Stronger" rapper posted this sweet snap with the caption, "Paris." The engaged duo can't seem to keep their hands off each other as they prep for their big day.

Opening Film - GRACE OF MONACO

     Grace of Monaco at Cannes
Directed by Olivier Dahan, Grace of Monaco stars Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly and Tim Roth as Prince Rainier.
There have already been a few spats between the current royal family and the film's producers. I don't expect to see any of the family turning up in Cannes.

    Master of Ceremonies

     Picture

Prolific French actor Lambert Wilson is the master of ceremonies for the Film Festival this year. He will preside over the opening and closing ceremonies.
Lambert Wilson became internationally known following his portrayals in the final two Matrix series of films. He is 55 years old and a graduate of the London Drama School. In addition to films he is a stage and TV actor, a singer, has starred in adverts, and made spoken word records.
The actor is often seen at the festival including in 2010 when the film in which he starred, Of Gods and Men, won the Grand Prix du Jury at Cannes.

On 25 May the Palme d'Or winning film will be shown at the Palais in front of the jury and assembled guests. This year due to the European elections the award ceremony will be held on Saturday instead of Sunday.

    Un Certain Regard
Pablo Trapero, Argentinean scriptwriter, producer and director, is president of the Jury for Un Certain Regard, Official Selection of the Festival de Cannes.
He said: “I am very proud to serve as president of the jury. Proud to take part in another way in the adventure in Cannes. Un Certain Regard, where I have presented three of my films, is always a very exciting selection. It brings us grand masters, promising young talent, new countries and new forms of cinema.”

PARTY GIRL to open Un Certain Regard
Party Girl - a first film - written and directed by Marie Amachoukeli, Claire Burger and Samuel Theis, opens the Official Selection of Un Certain Regard.
It follows in the footsteps of The Bling Ring by Sofia Coppola,  presented last year.

Party Girl is the story of Angélique, a 60 year-old night club hostess who still loves men and enjoys partying. But now feels she has reached the end of the line. On an impulse she agrees to marry her regular client - Michel. The film is a portrait of a free woman who has chosen to live on the margins of conventional society. It delves deep into a France that is often under-represented.
With total realism, the lead role is played by the real-life Angélique (above left).

Heart-throb Marcello Mastroianni features on this year's festival poster. And boy, was he a class act in his day.

Hervé Chigioni and graphic designer, Gilles Frappier, have based the poster design for this year's Cannes Film Festival on a photograph taken from Fellini’s , which was in competition at Cannes in 1963.

In Marcello Mastroianni and Frederico Fellini, Cannes celebrates the artistic importance of Italian and European cinema.

    Allee des Etoiles: STAR  WALK

     Film Star Hand Prints
    Film Star Hand Prints

It is during the Cannes film festival that Nadine Seul chases after the biggest star names in the world to ask them for their handprints - must make a change from autograph hunters. About 375 hand prints have been taken since 1983.

The stars press one or both hands into a block of clay. This is sent to a potter in Vallauris who makes a plaster mould which, in turn, goes to a foundry in the Rhone. The mould and the shiny new stainless steel handprint then return to Cannes: the mould to the bowels of the Palais des Festivals and the hand print to the Allee des Etoiles which snakes around the Palais.

    Cannes fait le Mur

The large photographs of the stars will appear on walls and strung across the rue d'Antibes from 14 May until 29 June.
Julia Roberts, Kate Hudson, Martin Scorsese, Vincent Cassel, and Alec Baldwin are among the stars featured.
The inauguration takes place outside the Mairie at 3pm on 14 May

    Cannes Film Festival Murals

     Cannes Film Festival Murals 2014
Take a tour round Cannes to see all the film murals - there are 15 in total.. This one is at the bus station and celebrates 100 years of cinema: can you spot Mickey Mouse, R2-D2 and Batman?

    The Palme d'Or by Chopard

67th Cannes Film Festival 2014 in France
The Palme d'Or is worth about 20,000 euros and the 19 leafed palm is made from 118 grammes of pure gold. It is attached to a block of crystal. Each piece is unique as the crystal can be of a slightly different hue each year. Two are made, as well as two mini Palme d'Or, for each festival by five of Chopard's top jewellers in Geneva. These same artisans produce the "red carpet" range of jewellery worn by the stars each evening.
The mini palms are for the best actor and actress awards.

    Film Festival Titbits

An exhibition of Thirties posters, organised by Christie's, will be held at the JW Marriott Hotel from 14-25 May, free entry. The theme of the posters is Holidaying on the Cote d'Azur

Cannes has plans for a museum of cinema. Thanks to the Cannes film festival, the town has 10,000 films, 50,000 interviews with stars and 300,000 photographs. It is hoped work will start in 2015.

Twelve full length feature films were made, at least in part, on the Cote d'Azur in 2012? Among them are Mobius and Grace of Monaco.

There is a Grace Kelly suite at the Carlton Hotel

The chef of the Palme d'Or restaurant in the Martinez Hotel prepares a film themed menu for the jury's first meal together.

The tourist authorities produce a brochure featuring film tours on the Cote d'Azur to see where great movies were made. Set-jetting rather than jet-setting.

The Villa Domergue is at the disposal of the jury during the Festival.
